Status: Fixed Term to cover maternity leave – initially 6 months

Salary: £9.96 per hour

Overtime pay:  an additional £1 per hour weekdays or £1.50 per hour weekends on top of your hourly rate of pay.

Rota: To include evenings and weekend working

Requirements of a Senior Support Worker:

  • Knowledge of people with learning difficulties
  • Basic understanding of people with autism
  • Understanding of the importance of confidentiality
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to encourage and motivate others
  • Various approaches to communication (e.g. PECS and Makaton)

 What I will be doing as a Residential Senior Support Worker:

  • To take responsibility for shift leading in a Residential Service under the direction and guidance of the Residential Home Manager and Registered Manager
  • To be responsible for the direct supervision of a team of staff, to give bi-monthly supervisions and annual Performance Appraisals.
  • To actively support the development of autism specific techniques and approaches to support individuals living within the service.
  • To dispense medication and ensure the smooth running of the team and the correct deployment of staff and the organisation of structured daily activities for service users
