Requirements of a Senior Support Worker:
Knowledge of people with learning difficulties
Basic understanding of people with autism
Understanding of the importance of confidentiality
Good oral and written communication skills
Ability to encourage and motivate others
Various approaches to communication (e.g. PECS and Makaton)
What I will be doing as a Residential Senior Support Worker:
To take responsibility for shift leading in a Residential Service under the direction and guidance of the Residential Home Manager and Registered Manager
To be responsible for the direct supervision of a team of staff, to give bi-monthly supervisions and annual Performance Appraisals.
To actively support the development of autism specific techniques and approaches to support individuals living within the service.
To dispense medication and ensure the smooth running of the team and the correct deployment of staff and the organisation of structured daily activities for service users
